I'm originally from Italy and I've been a Shanghai resident for the past 11 years. I graduated in Modern Chinese Studies in the UK and have 2 young children. I have been practicing yoga for the past 10 years. I graduated from my teacher training with Yoga Arts Australia in 2004. In my practice I started with Ashtanga but these days prefer a slightly more gentle flowing practice.
My wish for my classes is for students to come and enjoy yoga in a relaxed practice environment. For my prenatal classes I hope to encourage students to focus on their breath and their inner knowledge and prepare for birth in a positive and joyful way. After my son Theo was born in 2007 I started to try and integrate having a baby in my yoga practice, from that baby yoga courses started and now with Clara I run Om Baby Yoga to encourage mothers to keep practicing and sharing their love for yoga with their babies.
In 2013 I trained as a Hypnobirthing Teacher with Katherine Graves in London and I am very excited to share this wonderful practice with expectant mothers in Shanghai.
Influenced by studies with TKV Desikachar, my classes focus on modifying yoga to the needs of the individual. I guide students to find a personal approach to their practice suited for their specific needs. My teaching is particularly suited to pre- and post-natal yoga, where I focus on helping women find both outer and inner balance during the changes of pregnancy and after giving birth.
Through my own births and yoga practice, I found yoga prepared me both emotionally and physically for birth. It is my hope to share this with women through prenatal yoga classes and as a birth doula. I experienced the many benefits of bringing my baby to the yoga mat from the beginning and love seeing new moms coming together through mom and baby yoga classes. The caring environment of a yoga class for new mothers is one of the best ways to gain confidence and balance as a new mom. I was fortunate to have a very supportive OB and midwife helping me give birth in Shanghai. From this experience of feeling supported in birth, I was led to become a birth doula and help women also feel supported and empowered with their birth and birth choices no matter the outcome.
I began practicing Hatha yoga in 1998. I completed my teacher training in Ubud, Bali in 2004 with Yoga Arts of Byron Bay, Australia and began teaching thereafter in Shanghai, China. I continued studies in yoga therapy with Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai, India in 2007 and 2008. I also began studies in Vipassana meditation at Dhamma Sota in Sohna, India in 2008. As a birth doula with DONA International (www.dona.org), I aspire to help women throughout pregnancy and birth have a positive, empowering experience during an important life event. I am a E-RYT 200 and RPYT (Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher) with the Yoga Alliance (www.yogaalliance.org). After 14 years in Shanghai, China, I have recently moved to Marin County in the San Francisco Bay Area and look forward to supporting women through their journey of pregnancy and birth.
